Margaret was born in 1791 at Chirnside, the exact date unknown. She was the daughter of William Gray and Margaret Fairgrieve.[1] She married John Clazie in 1816 and they had 6 known children.
The Clazie surname was variously written: 1841 census at Eyemouth appears to say "Claizie". Margaret's age was shown as 50, whereas she was just 43.
1851 census at Chirnside showed Margaret as a widow. She lived with daughter Mary Sheriff Edwards Clazie and son-in-law Peter Drummond.
1861 census at Chirnside showed Margaret's age as 65, although she was 69. She lived with son John Clazie, 28, a carpenter, and another John, 28, a stone mason. Who was he? Maybe a nephew?
Margaret passed away in 1867 and was buried at Chirnside.[2]
