Isabella was born in 1817. The surname was variously written Clazy, Clazie, Claisie, Claizie, which complicates identification. An entry in the kirk records at Chirnside shows:

"Isabella, lawful dau. of John Clazy, carpenter, Chirnside & of Margaret Gray his spouse, was born May 27, 1817 bapt. June 22, 1817 by Rev. Dr. Logan"

She was named after her grandmother, Isabella Thompson, wife of John Clazie.

The granddaughter, Isabella, appears to be this person, listed in the 1841 UK census at West Cruiksfield near Bunkle, Berwickshire:

While still unmarried, Isabella appears to have had a child born in 1846 at Eyemouth. Records variously show the child's name as Isabella Clazie and Isabella Bell. The mother in 1851 married William Bell - presumably the father of the child. Their marriage record at Coldingham on 23 Feb 1851 showed:

William Bell, of the parish of Coldingham, and Isabella Thomson Claizie, of the parish of Eyemouth, were duly proclaimed in Eyemouth Church on the Twenty-third day of February & on the 2nd & 9th days of March, Eigthteen Hundred & Fifty-one years & were married on the Tenth day of March by the Rev. Wm. Anderson.

The couple later had two known daughters: Agnes Bell, born in 1852, and Janet Bell, in 1856.

Isabella died at Eyemouth on 2 June 1881, age 64. Four months later, the Great Storm of 14 October 1881 occurred at Eyemouth, during which some 129 local fishermen were drowned.
