Biography

Ally Chisholm is a part of US Black heritage.

Alice "Ally" Chisholm was a daughter of Barney Chisholm and Violette Rodgers(?). She was born about 1868, presumably in the area that became Rockwall County, Texas, as her family appears to have been continually intact and her father was a resident of that area for 40 years before his death in 1880. She appears to have lived all her life in that area.^{[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]}

The earliest record thus far found of Ally is the 1880 census, which shows her and five of her siblings living with her mother on their family farm, just months after the death of her father from typhoid fever.^[1]

In 1885, Ally married George Washington Moton, in Rockwell County.^[7] They had 14 children:

Ally's husband, George, died in 1911, but Ally lived until 1941, when she died in Rockwell County.^[8] She's buried at Glenhill Cemetery there, with George.
