Biography

Eliza (Chisholm) Brown is a part of US Black heritage.

Sarah Elizabeth ("Eliza" ) Chisholm was a daughter of Barney Chisholm and Violette Rodgers(?). She was born in 1854, presumably in the area that became Rockwall County, Texas, as her family appears to have been continually intact and her father was a resident of that area for 40 years before his death in 1880. She appears to have lived all her life in that area.^{[1][2][3][4][5][6]}

The earliest record thus far found of Eliza is the 1880 census^[1], which shows her and five of her siblings living with her mother on their family farm, just months after the death of her father from typhoid fever.

Eliza married Isaac Brown in 1877, in Rockwall County.^[5] She had ten children, nine of whom were still living as of the 1900 census.^[2] They are:

• Frank, born 1887
• Annie Lee, born 1889
• Willie, born 1891
• Clifford, born 1894

Eliza died in 1922, in Rockwall County.^[6]
