Mary (Chisholm) Martin is a part of US Black heritage.
Mary Ann Chisholm was a daughter of Barney Chisholm and Violette Rodgers(?). She was born in 1854, presumably in the area that became Rockwall County, Texas, as her family appears to have been continually intact and her father was a resident of that area for 40 years before his death in 1880. She appears to have lived all her life in that area.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]
The earliest record thus far found of Mary Ann is the 1880 census, which shows her and five of her siblings living with her mother on their family farm, just months after the death of her father from typhoid fever.[1]
Eliza married John M. Martin in 1880, in Rockwall County.[5] She had 13 children, all of whom were still living as of the 1900 census.[2] Among those are:
Dara, born 1874
George William, born 1881
Jessie, born 1886
Laura, born 1887
Thomas, born 1889
Hugh, born 1890
Everet, twin of Emery, born 1894
Emery, twin of Everet, born 1894
Lucile, born 1895
Alice, born 1897
Maud, born 1898
Mary Ann died in 1932, in Rockwall County[6], and is buried there, at Glenhill Cemetery.[7]
