Clyda Caty was born about 1876[1] in Michigan. She was the child[1] of Charles Baty and Maggie Cowen, the niece of Civil War veteran George Cowen of the famous 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, and the grandchild of Dr. Cyrus Cowan of Kentucky and Oxford, Ohio.
