Birth
Agnes Myrtle Bain was born in 1880 in Dunedin, New Zealand. She was the daughter of William Love Bain and Annie Lyall.
Agnes was one of nine children. Her family resided at 20 Bridgeman Street in Kensington, Dunedin.
World War One
Four of Agnes’ brothers enlisted for service in the First World War. John Douglas and Henry both signed up in 1915 and were sent overseas. John was discharged for medical reasons later that same year. Sadly, Henry Bain was killed in action on 15 September 1916 at the Battle of the Somme. Her brothers Charles and James both enlisted in 1917 and also served in Europe. Both returned home after the war’s end.
Marriage
In 1921, Agnes Myrtle Bain married Joseph Arthur Gibson.

Agnes’ mother died in 1926.
Agnes’ father died in 1938. Agnes and her siblings were mentioned in their father’s obituary. [1]
Widow
Agnes’s husband died in 1949.
Death
Agnes was mentioned on a memorial in Canterbury Memorial Gardens and Crematorium, Bromley, Christchurch City, Canterbury, New Zealand with a death date of 14 June 1992.[2]
