Jacob Yoder was born 10 March 1813,[1] probably in Upper Saucon Township where his father owned land and was enumerated in the 1790 census.[2] His parents were John Yoder and Susanna Meyer.
His father's household was enumerated in Upper Saucon in 1820[3] and in 1830[4] and the record is consistent with Joseph living with the family.
On 7 January, 1829, John Sr. transferred a substantial amount of land to his sons, including Jacob, who was still a minor, and Jacob's older brothers, John Jr., Joseph, and Peter. [5]
John Sr's will, proved on 14 December 1839, [6] left modest bequests to his children. Jacob, along with his siblings Joseph, Peter, and Elizabeth received all real and personal estate, to be divided equally. The oldest brother John received only $100, a bible, and a clock. Based on the deeds of 1829, it's assumed that John Sr. had transferred most of his land to his sons at that time.
In 1849, Jacob buys land from his brother Peter. This is land that John Sr. transferred to Peter in 1829.[7]
