Ethel Howard
1909-1996

Ethel May Howard, 86, formerly of Ashland, died Tuesday in Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

Mrs. Howard was born Dec. 4, 1909, a daughter of the late Henry and Rettie Yates. Her husband, Wardie Howard, preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Colleen Crisp of Dayton and Roberta Jean Adams of Ashland; two stepsons. William Howard of Worthington and Charles Ed Howard of Las Vegas, Nevada. brother, Milford Yates of Flowerfield, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shelton Cemetery in Cannonsburg.

Weaver Funeral Home in Dayton is in charge of arrangements.

She was the daughter of Henry and Retta D (Darby Yates [1][2][3][4]

In 1910 She was 10 months old and living with her parents and siblings in Caney, Pike, Kentucky, United States. [1]

In 1920 Ethel was living in Pike, Kentucky, United States with her parents and 4 siblings. She was 10 years old. [2]

In 1930 She lived in District 2, Pike, Kentucky, United States with her parents and 4 siblings. She was 21 years old. [3]

She married Troy E. Little on 5 May 1934 in Pike County, Kentucky. [4][5]

The Children of this Union were:

  • Phyllis Ann Little [5]
  • Troy Eugene Little [5]

In 1935 She was living in Rural, Pike County, Kentucky. [5]

In 1940 She was living in Logan County, West Virginia, United States with Troy and their two children. [5]

She passed away on 23 Jul 1996 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, USA. She was laid to rest in the Shelton Cemetery in Catlettsburg, Boyd County, Kentucky, USA.

Research Notes

Date if Birth is inaccurate. Her obituary lists 4 Dec 1909 however the census was taken in April of 1910 and it lists her being 10 months old.
