Biography

The daughter of John Witt and Daisy (Boozer) Clamp, Johnnie Witt was born in Alachua County, Florida^{[citation needed]} around 1903. Her father died in 1904 and Johnnie and her siblings retured with theirmother returned to her family home in Newberry, South Carolina. Her mother married William Clamp and the family lived together in Newberry.^[1] Her stepfather and several of her siblings, worked at a local cotton mill.

Her mother passed away in 1918 and her step-father remarried. Johnnie and her sister, Susie, moved in with their grandmother, Lucy (Shealy) Boozer, who also lived in Newberry.^[2] Nothing is known of her after 1920; Johnnie Witt is believed to have passed away in 1894.^{[citation needed]}
