Biography

The son of Andrew Jackson Witt (1835-1909) and Rebecca Drusilla Shealy (1838-1900), John Witt was born in Columbia County, Florida^{[citation needed]} in 1868, residing there with his family.^[1] His siblings included:

John is believed to have married Margaret S. Feagle (1872-1956), the daughter of Andrew Jackson Feagle and Edna Emily Smith, having one child with her, Andrew Judson Witt (1889-1959). By 1900, however, John lived in Madison Township, Florida, loding with his employer, Addison Rutherford, and his family and working as a sales clerk at Addie Rutherford's dry goods store.^[2] In 1900, Mattie Feagle and their son, Judson, lived with Mattie's parents in Cow Creek, Florida. John later remarried, marrying Daisy (Boozer) Clamp in Alachua County, Florida,^{[citation needed]} and having two children together:

1. Susan May (Witt) Norris (1902-1960)
2. Julia M. Witt (1904-)

John passed away at the age of 36 and is buried at Bethlehem Lutheran Church cemetery in Columbia County, Florida.^[3]
