Biography

Harry Weber was born in 1857. His father, Charles G. Weber, was associated with the Balmer & Weber music store in St. Louis. His mother was New York native Sarah B. Wetmore.

In 1880, Harry was married to Nellie Busch, daughter of Anheuser–Busch co-founder Adolphus Busch.[1] According to a newspaper report of their divorce proceedings in 1886, Harry was the beneficiary of $25,000 to $30,000 from his father-in-law, which he "squandered in dissipation". He was accused of "frequenting disreputable places and associating with lewd women." Nellie was granted a divorce and custody of their two sons, Adolphus and Edward.[2] The boys took the name of their stepfather, Arthur Magnus, when their mother remarried a few years later. Harry also remarried, to Sadie Murnane in 1893.[3] They had a son together, Harold Leslie Weber (1895–1953).

Harry worked for a time at his father's music store and later as a hotel auditor in St. Louis. After the death of his wife Sadie in 1924, he moved into the Laclede Hotel, where he was employed at the time. He died there the following year and was buried in Bellefontaine Cemetery.[4][5]
