Sampson Waters was born in Cornwall, England.

Sampson was born about 1838 in Fowey. He is the son of Sampson Waters and Sally Sweet. He was baptised on the 26th of August 1838[1]. Another Sampson Waters was baptised the prior year to the same parents, but died the same year[2][3].

In 1841 he was living in Fowey with his mother, sister, grandparents Colliver and Sarah, and his aunt's extended family[4]. His parents and grandparents died in the 1840s and in 1851 he was still living with Randall and Betsey Howard, his sister and cousins.[5].

Research Notes

Sampson is often spelled Samson in the records. In addition "Waters" is often transcribed as "Watters" or "Walters". There is another Sampson Waters born a year prior who dies shortly after birth to the same parent.
