Biography

Frank "Friend" Colman Wall was born on 19 Jul 1863 in Yosemite, Casey County, Kentucky. He was as son of Jacob Wall Fannie Spears. Friend Coleman Wall married Edith Jane Abney on 14 Jan 1886 in Casey County, Kentucky, USA. He passed away on 14 Aug 1921 in Casey County, Kentucky, USA

He did marry with the first name Frank and buried also under the name Wall.

He is Friend Coleman Dorn AKA Wall, Gr Grandfather of Edward Pike and I got most of this info from relatives that have passed away, birth, census & Marriage records.^[3]

He was a farmer, part time preacher that died of Typhoid Fever & Edward Pike never met him of course. All of his family went to the old Corinth Church of God on Hwy 501 in Casey County, Kentucky and my grandfather married a daughter of this preacher man.

His parents along with his wife were born in Kentucky and Friend couldn't read or write at the age of 16.^[4]

The Wall, Dorn last name comes from an issue that deals with his father & grandfather. Some Walls were Dorn & Wall. Others are just Dorn and others are just Wall. Please see Dorn-286 for more information on the Dorn/Wall controversy.^[5]

He is buried at Middleburg Cemetery. There are Walls, Wall & Dorn living in Casey County in the 19th and 20th Centuries. It is relatively certain that some of the Wall that came to this country added the S inadvertently and some Wall added the S on their surname.

Edward Pike's father's birth certificate had Lula Dorn is listed as his mother and Francis Pike as his father.^[6]

Ida Mae Dorn Phair: "He was a big husky man with sandy red hair. He died from Typhoid fever". He may have used the last name Wall, but Joyce Ulrey Thaler stated that all of his children used the last name Dorn. He may have been married under the name Frank C Wall for some possible legal reasons as suggested by Wall-2688.

His father Jake was known as Jake Dorn but was buried under the name Wall. His daughter Lula (Edward Pike's grandmother) had at least 1 child where the mother's name is listed as Dorn on the Birth Cert. Friend is buried at Middleburg Cemetery, Middleburg, Casey County, Kentucky. His birth and death dates are from his marker.^[1]
