John Black Vickers was born on 7 September 1895 in Cockpen, Edinburghshire, Scotland, son of William Vickers and Marion Moffat (Black) Vickers.^[1]

He migrated on 8 July 1923 arriving in New York, New York, USA having sailed from Liverpool, Lancashire, England on the vessal Celtic.^[2]

He married Wilhelmina M Burrell on 5 July 1933 in Detrot, Wayne, Michigan, USA. He was a toolmaker living in Detroit.^[3] They had a son Malcolm Burrell VICKERS, b.1945.
