Biography

Charles Vessey was born in 1826.^[1] He was the son of Benjamin Vessey and Sarah Dawson. ^[2] He immigrated to American with parents and wife Jane arriving in New York on 3 Jul 1850. ^[3]

By October 1st of 1850 the family were living in Winnebago Township in Wisconsin. ^[6]

In the summer of 1863 he registers for the Civil War Draft where he is listed as living in Algoma. Wisconsin and he is a widower at the time ^[7]

1870 and 1880 find him still living in Algoma, now with 2nd wife Margaret and children. ^{[8] [9]}

in 1884 Charles Petitions for and becomes a Naturalized US Citizen. ^[10]

Charles died in Crow Lake, Jerauld Co., South Dakota in on 25 Sep, 1894. He is buried at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Wessington Springs, South Dakota. ^{[1] [11]}
