Biography
Petrus was born to Aard Van Wagening and his wife, Marytjen Louw. He was baptized 1726 Jan 23 with his aunt, Antjen Louw, and his aunt's husband, Philippus Viele, as witnesses, and recorded at the church in Kingston [1].
He was a veteran of the American Revolution. He was an enlisted man in the 3rd Ulster County Regiment, serving under Colonel Andrew Bevier and Lieutenant Cornelius Van Wagenen. His stonehouse in Wagendaal (now Creeklocks, New York) still stands.
Petrus was married 1760 Jun 15 to Sara Louw of the Pals, as recorded at the church in Kingston [2]. Their children are Jonathan [3], Daniel [4], Ezechiel [5], Levi [6], Catharina [7], Lucas [8], Maria [9], Aert [10], and Sara [11].
At the church in New Paltz, Petrus and his wife witnessed the baptisms of his wife's niece (?), Sara Bovier [12], Mareytie Freer [13], his wife's nephew, Daniel Louw [14], and Petrus Schoonmaker [15].
At the age of about 91-92, Petrus died about 1818 in Creeklocks, Ulster, New York, United States.
