Arthur was born in Kansas in January, 1872. Son of Benjamin & Martha J. Thompson. (Both parents were born in Indianna, family lived in Kansas until at least 1877, moved to Eagle, Wisconsin before 07/1879.)
1896-1898 Arthur was the manager of a new creamery which opened in St. Bonifacious, Hennepin, Minnesota. In announcing the creamery's first week's production, the Mar. 19, 1896 issue of the (Chaska) Weekly Valley Herald stated that Arthur was from Muscoda, Wisconsin. Arthur severed his relationship with this creamery in Dec. 1898, after which he returned to Muscoda, WI.[1]
Arthur married Theresa Diethelm, daughter of Michael Diethelm and Mary Dohman, on 6/27/1899 in Victoria, Carver, MN, in a Catholic ceremony. Marriage was witnessed by John A. Diethelm & Lizzie Diethelm. Click here to see a copy of their marriage record.[2]
In 1900 they lived in Laketown Township (current day Victoria, Carver, Minnesota, with his wife's elderly grandparents Carl and Elisabeth Diethelm (and paid rent). Arthur was surrounded by in-laws. Her grandparents' house was sandwiched in between Theresa's uncle, Joseph and her brother, John. Arthur worked as a Butter-maker at one of the many creameries in the area. Arthur never served in the military.
They had 2 children in Minnesota, the last born there in 1904. I believe they moved to Oklahoma before 1905 because they don't appear in the 1905 Minnesota State census and their third child was born in Oklahoma in 1908. Cannot find them in the 1910 census in OK or MN.
In census records 1920 through 1940 they lived on 223 W. Roberts, Kingfisher Township, Kingfisher, OK. In 1920, Arthur was a self-employed "Creamery Man". In 1930, he was still the proprietor of the creamery and his oldest son, Raymond, was the creamery's Accountant-Manager.
By 1940, Arthur was no longer able to work and may have sold the creamery. His son, Raymond, is an Attendant at a Service Station. Their daughters who were still at home, Mary Agnes and Genevieve, are working as a Manager Clerk at AAA Cotton, and Operator on a Telephone Switchboard, respectively.
He passed away in 1941, age 69. His wife passed away in 1968. Arthur and his wife are buried in Kingfisher Cemetery, Kingfisher, Oklahoma.[3]
