Biography

Maria Theresa (known as Theresa) was born in 1879. She is the daughter of Mike Diethelm and Mary Dohman.^[1][2]

She grew up on her family's farm in Laketown Twp (present day Victoria) and lived there until her marriage.

When she was 22, she was married in a Catholic ceremony to Arthur Raymond Thompson on 6/27/1899 in Victoria, Carver, Minnesota. Son of Benjamin and Martha J. Thompson. Marriage was witnessed by John A. Diethelm and Lizzie Diethelm. Click here to see a copy of their marriage record.^[3]

For the first few years of their marriage, they lived in Laketown Twp with her elderly grandparents Carl and Elisabeth Diethelm (and paid rent). Her grandparents' house was sandwiched in between Theresa's uncle, Joseph and her brother, John.

In 1900 Arthur worked as a Butter Maker at the Creamery. They had 2 children in Minnesota, the last born there in 1904. I believe they moved to Oklahoma before 1905 because they don't appear in the 1905 Minnesota State census and their third child was born in Oklahoma in 1908. In census records 1910-1940 they lived in Kingfisher, Kingfisher, Oklahoma.

Her husband, Arthur, passed away in 1941. Theresa passed away at age 89 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma in 1968.^[4] She and Arthur are buried in Kingfisher Cemetery, Kingfisher, Oklahoma.^[5]
