Albert was born in 1901 in Ballykeel, Islandmagee, County Antrim, Ireland, the son of George Stewart and Agnes Davison. The birth was registered by Jane Davidson of Ballykeel who was present at the birth.[1]
During the 1901 Census of Ireland, Albert aged 3 months, was residing in a house 42 in Mullaghdoo (Islandmagee, Antrim) with his mother Agnes (his father George was likely at sea) and his older brother William aged 1. The head of the household was his fathers Grandmother Jane Kane, widow, aged 80.[2][3]
Albert, aged 10, was residing in a house 37 in Mullaghdoo (Island Magee, Antrim) with his mother Agnes (his father was likely at sea again) and his younger siblings Georgina, aged 8 and Thomas, aged 5. His older brother William was in a house 20 in Mullaghdoo with their grandmother Agnes.[4][5]
Albert was Ordinary Seaman of S.S Bray Head.[6] and was lost at sea on March 14th, 1917 aged 16. Note The Stewart Family gravestone inscription has his passing date as March 14th, 1916. He is commemorated at Tower Hill Memorial [7][8] and in Ballykeel Graveyard, Islandmagee.[9]
