Biography

William was born in 1871 in Mullaghdoo, Islandmagee, County Antrim, Ireland, the son of Thomas Stewart and Agnes Kane.[1]

During the 1901 Census of Ireland, William aged 29 was residing in a house 37 in Mullaghdoo (Islandmagee, Antrim) with his mother Agnes, sadly widowed. William was recorded as a sailor, and not married. [2] [3]

William, aged 39 was residing in a house 20 in Mullaghdoo (Island Magee, Antrim) during the 1911 Census of Ireland, still with his mother Agnes, and his nephew William John Stewart, aged 11. He was again recorded as a sailor and not married.[4][5]

According to the Stewart family gravestone (fallen in ground), in Ballykeel Graveyard, in Islandmagee, William passed away on April 3rd, 1912 in Accra, West Africa, aged 40 years. [6] He left a will, and administration was granted to his mother Agnes.[7]
