The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing a check-in. The Project operates in a team structure with these participant PIP Teams -- The Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and three Biography Teams. There is also the Voyage Team which guides new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team.
You're currently identified as a member of the Biography Team, working on profiles from your watchlist and other profiles that interest you. The other two Biography Teams work on Abandoned and Popular profiles from the provided lists. Please let us know if you are content with your current Team or would like to change to one of the others.
If you have not already done so, we invite you to join the email GoogleGroup. We use the WikiTree Discord server #profile-improvement channel for our project. Neither is required; we also use the Profile_Improvement tag in G2G for Project announcements.
We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project meet its goals. We would like to hear about the successes you’ve had and would also appreciate any feedback you have to help improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or via private message to one of us.
Debi thank you for the check-in. I am proud to graduate the PIP Voyage with Kay Knight. I continue to work on Biographies and find them easier to create as I go along. I continue to learn something new every day.
Hi Alice, First I would like to thank you for your Service to our country. Second thank you for all you do for WikiTree. We are 16th cousins 3 times removed. Robert Goushill is your 15th and my 18th great grandfather. We also have 167 more common ancestors I love meeting new family no matter how distant. I will be 70 years old on April 5th 2024 and married to a wonderful lady named Debbie. We have been married for 25 years. We live at Mountain Rest, S.C. I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. With warmest regards, Jimmy Lewis-39192
Hi Alice, the US Civil War Project is conducting a Check-in for 2024 to see if your still interested/active in the Project.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you. You can click the reply button or message me with your answer. Thank you. Pam Kreutzer, Leader of the US Civil War Project
Yes, still interested. Just finished doing some work on Maj General Lewis Wallace, and a couple of his brothers. His brother Edward Test Wallace served with him first at the Mexican-American War, then in the Civil War in the 11th Indiana Infantry Regiment. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wallace-10786. Captain Edward Wallace was at the beginning of the Civil War an aide. He later became Maj. General Lewis Wallace's Aide DeCamp in the saving of Cincinnati, Ohio. Is there someplace I should be posting this, that I haven't been?
Hi Alice, it looks like we've been working on the same Challenge :) I recognize the names you've mentioned, as long as they have categories and stickers on them, they will show up where they need to be. Plus I think at the end of that Challenge all those facts will be shared with the New Mexico group. Thank you for remaining in the project. Pam
Alice! Thanks so much for making Appalachia 'Shine during our December 2023 Challenge. Our January 2024 Challenge is all about the Connect-A-Thon and adding Cemetery Categories to profiles.
Karen, thank you. Can you point out specifically which profile this is about, please? I read the details you sent, but still am confused. Could you give me an actual example of the use of this template, please? Again Thank you very much.
We use Google Groups for Project communication. While sign up is optional, it is highly recommended. When you request to join, be sure to include your Wikitree ID number:
Join us for our online Appalachia Project Party on Saturday, December 9th, 2023 at 2pm (EST)/7pm (UTC).
If you are signed up for our Project's Google Group, look for an email with the easy instructions on how to join. If you are on our Project's Discord Chat Channel, all details were posted under Announcements.
(Please make sure to check your Spam folder as many have mentioned the Monthly Newsletter and other communication is landing in their spam.)
Your first question about where to add the changes you have found, I normally add changes to a profile on the profile, then SAVE. Be sure to fill in the reason for the changes, such as adding sources, etc.
There are some issues with your medal categories. Please use Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal exactly as I have typed into the category= parameter of the medals. This will ensure you are grouped into the correct category. Thanks,
Natalie, Categorization Project
Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
Hope you and yours are doing well! Can you please remove the project boxes for Oregon and Washington? These are meant for use on ancestor profiles needing Project Protection.
I sent you a check-in message a week ago about the Military and War Project to ask you about your continued involvement but have not yet heard back from you. Do you still want to be in the project? If I do not hear from you by the same time next week, I will assume that you've moved on to other things. You are most welcome to re-join the project at any time.
Best wishes,
Mary~ Project Coordinator, Military and War Project
It's time for a six month Military and War Project check-in with all members. Have you been active in the last six months? Please note that it is a requirement for membership in the Military and War Project that you respond to these check-ins. To make bookkeeping easier, just click Reply to this message on your own page, add your reply, then SAVE. I look forward to hearing from you..
Many thanks,
Mary~ Project Coordinator, Military and War Project
Hi Alice, it's been a couple of weeks since asking if you wished to remain in the US Civil War Between the States Project. I'd appreciate you letting me know by the end of February if you desire to remain in the Project. If I haven't heard from you by then, I'll assume you no longer wish to participate. I hope to hear from you soon, thank you.
P Kreutzer, US Civil War Between the States Project Leader
Hi Alice, I just wanted to thank you for all the work you've done to improve the US Civil War Between the States Project. I'm doing a check-in with all project members and wanted to verify that you're still interested in being a member of the project. Also, any suggestions for the Project would be welcome. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
P Kreutzer, US Civil War Between the States Project Leader.
Thank you for contributing to the November Sourcerers Challenge! As you know, every source added to an unsourced profile improves our One Tree. Thank you for taking time from your own family history to help others.
Please change your category to Category:Military and War Project Members. Category:Military and War Project is a top level category and should not hold profiles. Thanks, Natalie, M&W Leader
Hi, Alice. I wanted to let you know that I have sent you a private message and look forward to hearing back from you. - T Stanton, WikiTree Mentor Program
Please remove the categories "American Revolution Project Members" and "Civil War Project Members" from your profile. These categories do not exist and trying to use them causes errors. It is up to the projects to decide if they want a category for their project members, members do not decide that for themselves. For projects without a category for members please see the badge report (click on the project badge).
Thank you.
We don't have categories for project members for American Revolution or CIvil War. Please remove them.
Thanks,
Natalie, Military and War Leader, Categorization Leader
I think I did as requested. Working together sounds good to me. I have some time today. I will leave it up to you if you wish to merge Coulter 3103 to Coulter 3025. Elizabeth (Coulter) Elder. I made it a little clearer about her maiden name. Her daughter Mary Violet (Elder) Kelsey Miller Iowa Death record gives her mothers maiden name as Coulter. Later Cousin Debbie Freeman
Just a reminder, please be careful and add your own profile ID when "saving a change" you made to a profile and indicating the "Integrator project".
You recently made changes to "John Ralph Austin" - Austin-518, and his name is now showing on the tracker, so you did not get the credit for our challenge in his case. So you have 27 entries credited on tracker when it could have been 29 for this update. Unfortunately this non member profile ( John Austin) got the credit.
I noticed that you used the Challenge Tracker to track a change during last month's Sourcerers' Challenge. Please consider officially joining us for the Sourcerers' Challenge. You can find information, including how to join, on the Sourcerers Project page.
No pressure, every profile with a source makes our WikiTree better. Your work will continue to be included on the Tracking Sheet even if you do not register.
Still plenty of time to join. Here is a link to the current month's G2G thread. All you need to do is add an answer there and continue to use the Tracker when you add the first source to a profile

We have two google groups - one for discussion (https://groups.google.com/g/wtvirginiadiscuss) and one for managed profiles (https://groups.google.com/g/wtvirginia). Send a join request if you'd like to join either or both (include your WikiTree ID so we know it's you).
When you get a chance, please add your info on the Virginia Team page (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Virginia_Team). If you haven't already looked it over, Virginia Project (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Virginia) is the main project page and has lots more information.
As you already have the the United States badge for Kentucky, that also covers the Virginia Project.
Let me know if you have any questions.
