In the 1900 census Mary (age 34) was the wife of William D Coulter in Rose Creek Township, Republic, Kansas, United States.[3] The household included:

Mary at the age of 34, died at the home of her mother, Elizabeth Ann Rickard-Hallowell in Hartford, (Washington and Dodge Counties), Wisconsin. She died on 3 Mar 1901 in Washington County, Wisconsin. This was a short time after the birth of her son, Edgar M. Coulter, who was born on 31 January 1901 in Wisconsin.[4]
She had been to visit her mother and other relatives for the previous two (2) months and had planned to return to her home in Kansas. However, she developed pneumonia, as a complication of having heart disease.
She was mentioned on a memorial in Hallowell Farm Cemetery, Rubicon, Dodge County, Wisconsin, United States with a death date of 3 March 1901.[5]
