The "Roll of Honor", by Martha Reamy and William Reamy, is the only official memorial to the Union dead ever published. Its extensive lists of 228,639 Union soldier burials, in over 300 national cemeteries, spread out over 27 volumes, has daunted and intimidated generations of researchers, for no index to the work was ever published...until now. For the People search, I think you can add the phonecalldetect.com for the search via phone number

Hi Kitty:

Under Norway, the link to Digitalarkivet needs to be updated to https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/

And for Poland you may want to include https://www.szukajwarchiwach.pl/ (search engine for Polish state archives, including numerous digitized files) and https://geneteka.genealodzy.pl/?lang=eng (genealogical search engine for indexed names in church and state BMD records, including some scans of records)

Free UK Census information (1841-1911) is available from FreeCen.

Free UK Parish records is available from FreeReg.

The above 2 sites are sister sites to FreeBMD and have been populated in the same way i.e by volunteers.

Both are still not 100% complete but there is a chance you may find the person you are looking for there.

You may like to include them as UK resource.

For Windows users there's also a character map feature under system accessories if you need to do a special character or language specific symbol. I don't see this referenced anywhere. Just need to search on charmap.exe or do a run on charmap and it will pop right up. It's built into every version of windows.

Hi Kitty :) ,

Here's a link to Alses's wikitree free space Slovene Portal where people can find links to Slovene sources, didn't know where to put it exactly so maybe you can add it ?

And here are some Familysearch Slovenia online genealogy records but I think this link is added to the Sloven Portal as well already.

Thanks and greets from the Netherlands !, Bea

Hi, Kitty-I added "The American Genealogical Biographical Index (AGBI)-The first 37 Volumes, then Volumes 40-45" under "People Searches". I found this on familysearch.org (free site)-normally, According to "Passage to the Past's Blog" http://passagetothepast.wordpress.com/2010/07/23/american-genealogical-biographical%C2%A0index/ "In over 225 volumes there are more than 850 sources mentioned, equating to over 12 million records" and only published sources are used. The remaining 185+ volumes are not available on the internet, for free, but rather, one needs to be a paying subscriber to Ancestry.com, to access these volumes or contact the owner/publisher, Godfrey Memorial Library in Middletown, CT http://www.godfrey.org/agbi.html another payment site
