Teri, there is no direct evidence provided by a document that *specifically* names Michael as the the son of Johan Caspar Hoffman and Anna Maria Huffman as their son.

There is also no proper documentation to provide direct evidence that Michael was Michael Eugene. I have placed warning notes on the appropriate profiles to notify any researchers about the lack of evidence, rather than detaching Michael from them. e

I also removed the name Eugene, since there was no evidence Michael used that name.

I don't know if you have any direct evidence of the relationships, but if you do, please add a transcript and citation for the evidence.

Michael and his wife are my direct ancestors, so the evidence does have importance beyond the value placed on evidence by WikiTree

Terri,

I hope you have had a chance to try the DNA Confimation Citation Maker. All of the text that I pasted into your profile for your mother's DNA confirmation was produced by the app from just a few readily available pieces of information. Try the "Simple DNA Match" between yourself and your mother to see how easy it is to do.

Best,

I can’t thank you enough John.

I looked at your source of my DNA on GEDmatch with mom and it was just too much for me to take on. The way I wrote it , I thought was ok, are you saying that it really is not acceptable? I have seen so many DNA confirmations written that way. Thanks again

Terri,

On WikiTree, when we mark a parent as "confirmed with DNA" a DNA confirmation source statement is required on the child's profile which cites the details of how two or more matching DNA tests confirm the parent-child relationship. Sometimes both parents can be confirmed by the same DNA test match. The requirements for what needs to be included in a DNA confirmation source citation are listed in the Help for DNA Confirmation (click), which can lead you through the process.

The new DNA confirmation aid (click) makes it easier by prompting you for the necessary information and then creates a source citation that you can copy and paste into the relevant profile. It is easy to use and produces source statements like the one that I posted on your profile.

DNA confirmation source citations that do not meet the requirements are not valid and the "confirmed with DNA" indicator should be reset if that is the case. As it says in the Help for DNA confirmation: "If there isn't a proper source citation for a DNA-confirmed conclusion the relationship status should be changed by you or another member to Confident."

Hi Terri,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi! Thanks for contacting me. WikiTree shows a relationship for us, but it's too far removed for DNA to have any meaning - Terri and Liz are 14th cousins four times removed, both descendants of Mary (Harley) Throckmorton (abt.1470-aft.1532). None of the names you mentioned in your e-mail rang any bells. Was one of them showing as our "Most Recent Common Ancestor". If so, could you share their WikiTree ID? Thanks cousin!

Hi Terri,

Thanks for your comment and question. I recommend you just add your ancestors that you know of. This will then begin to show a tree. The DNA you inherited spreads as you add ancestors. Ancestors that are way back in time may be too far removed to show the DNA.

Today I went to where you have the DNA entered on your home page. There is a small link there near where the mcghee60 shows, which if clicked, takes you to the profiles which your DNA has spread to Here .

Our FCA ( 1 st common ancestor ) was William (Brereton-51). That finds us as 18x1 cousins . This is a paternal Tree connection for me ... but too far removed to establish a DNA component... in my patrilineal line. This is a good indicator of why we don’t show as a match on 23&Me.. Hope this helps . g

No wonder we don’t show DNA matching. Ha

Thanks for trying.

Hi Terri,

Thanks for sharing with me and thinking we may be “connected”! Regretably, I do not have any links of the Rice family that lead to Tennessee ( at least at this point in my research)! I am not related to the twins you mention, or as far as I know. I’m still trying to determine how the DNA matches work on Wikitree. My DNA was done via Ancestry. On my father’s side of the family we go back primarily to the Canton, NY area for his father and to NovaScotia for his mother. I will certainly be willing to seek more info as I move forward to see if we do have a link. Thank you for thinking of me and inviting me to join your group. Paul Rice

Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted". You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

Use the reply link below my message to let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. Using the link will make sure I am notified.

Hi Terri,

You may want to edit your name. You've got Mrs. at the end. People generally don't include Mr. or Mrs. on names at all, but that's fine if you want. However, if you look at your name from the public view, you'll see that your name appears as "Mrs. Terri G. McGhee Mrs formerly Solomon"

Thanks so much.I think I fixed it.

I’ve been working on the Duggers. If you tell me what’s the furthest back Dugger person on your line, I’m sure I could find where it connects to the main tree. A pretty much all Duggers in America are descended from the same two people: Daniel Dugger and Mary Scarborough. Although, there was supposedly another Daniel Dugger living in Virginia in the 1690s who wasn’t related, but not much is known about him.

May I pretty please ask you to remove the names of the living people in your bio? According to regulations we need to adhere to the GDPR, and in today's modern times it's a good thing to do in order to protect our loved ones. You would also need to please remove your email. Not to worry though, it's really easy for someone to contact you on WikiTree either publicly as a comment on your profile page or privately in a message that you will receive by email.

Wishing you all the best in your tree climbing

Take care and kindest regards

Pam ~ Wikitree Greeter

Thanks Pam for trying to help.

I have been on Wikitree a while now. Thanks for trying to help. I did actually go to ( How Wikitree works), as well as (Getting the best from DNA), and it’s still unclear to me how to add my close DNA matches. I went on here today and posted a question, but even my question does not seem to be getting any traction. Here is what I posted: I posted a question today hoping for help. Here is what I posted?

Do you feel like other Wikitree users are having a difficult time finding your tree?

I don’t understand with all of my DNA matches out there of my close relatives, why others have not found my tree. I believe that ( If) my tree was easy to access then why aren’t more relatives able to add their DNA ? On my grandpa”s profile particularly- Weaver-12550, who is now over 120 years old, I would think I would have more DNA connections added below his profile, other than my mom and myself. Maybe I have the Privacy levels set too high. Any thoughts are appreciated. Hi Terri,

I'm so sorry but I feel like I'm useless to you on this question, I haven't done DNA myself so I'm not really sure how it all works in the nitty gritty way of things. But I do love making connections, and often I find that the best way to make connections is not to neglect the side branches. Adding Aunts, Uncles, cousins and siblings of all our ancestors as well as their spouses and children can often lead to surprising results. When I look at your grandpa Weaver-12550 I don't see a lot of descendants, this might just be due to privacy levels but I don't think so, as anyone who is an active WikiTree member would show up, are you and your mom the only descendants below Weaver-12550 that are active on WikiTree?

The privacy level that you have set on your grandpa's profile is perfect for finding DNA matches - so no worries there.

i hope this helps, and I wish you all the best luck in making new DNA connections.
