The marriage record added by Salome Truter does not belong to this profile - the name of the bridegroom is the same but he was married to Maria Viljoen, and he was born in 1828 so he can not marry in 1820 as he passed away in 1910. Now removed as primary photo.

Familysearch.com shows him to be the son of Burgert Godliep Smit (abt.1794-1866) - see https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LJYQ-87B, but this seems to be incorrect as the names of his children, usually named after their grandparents, indicate this error.
