Biography

Ron Silva 2004

Ronald Edwin "Ron" Silva Sr was born on the 9th of December 1940 in Hilo, Hawai'i.^[1] He was the first of the five children born to Edwin Lee Silva and Violet Janet Lee.^[1][2] The family later moved to San Leandro, California atop a hill with a scenic view of the valley.

Ron first married Joyce D May on the 27th of April 1963 in Alameda County, California.^[3] They had one daughter together, with Tanya's birth occurring the year following their marriage.^[4] This union did not last long, as Ron and Joyce divorced that same year.

Ron next married one of his best friends, C Heath, in 1965 in Mendocino County, California.^[5] They settled in Vallejo, California and started their family. Ron was twenty-four years old and his wife was seventeen. C had a five-month old daughter and was ready to complete their family. They had two daughters and a son over the next four years. In 1970 Ron and C were still living in Vallejo^[6] with their family of six. Ron was working as a business manager.^[6] C stayed home and took care of the children. C always said that Ron was a 'gypsy at heart, and just couldn't settle in for long.'^[7] This must have had some truth to it as they had divorced in 1970.

That same year Ron married P Edwards.^[8] Ron and P had one child together, a daughter.^[7] The children from his second marriage would play with this daughter, as well as P's other daughters, when they visited.^[7] As with the previous marriages, this didn't last for long. A gentle man with a big heart and a lot of love to share, Ron married P (Underwood) Mascarenas.^[9][10] The joyful event took place on the 23rd of December 1977 in Alameda County.^[9][10] In the fall of 1979 Ron's heart led him elsewhere, and he divorced P.^[11] His next marriage was to L M Glover. This took place on the 3rd of November 1979 in Alameda County. Ron and L had one son together.^[7]

In 1993 Ron was living on his own in Hayward, California.^[12] He owned a pool cleaning business and enjoyed being his own boss.^[7] His children from his second marriage had grown up and moved to different states. His other children remained in California.^[7] Ron's father Ed had passed in 1986, due to Heart Failure. His daughter Tonya had died that same year. His mother Vi was still living in San Leandro next to his sisters and their families.^[7] It is unknown whether Ron married again after this point. What is known is that he stayed in the state of California.^[7] Ron would go back to San Leandro and visit his family, but he never moved to 'the family block.'

The year of 2013 was a rough one for Ron. He was on his own and had grown quite weak after a bout of pneumonia. His children from his second marriage visited him as he recovered in a rehabilitation center. Ron would sit with an absent smile and reminisce about all of the loves in his life.^[7] Each one was a precious memory to him at that time. As he gained strength each day, his children were hopeful for a full recovery. In a tragic twist of fate Ron aspirated and was transferred to a local hospital, critically ill. He took his last breath on the 22nd of October 2013 in Carmichael, California with several of his loved ones at his bedside.^[2][7] The official cause of death was Cardiac Arrest and Myocardial Infarction.^[2]

On his death certificate, he was listed as an 'entrepreneur.'^[2] Per his second wife he was a gypsy. To his children he was a gentle man whose smile was contagious. A wandering soul; he may not have spent all of his time with one family but he did express his love fully with each one.
