Jane (Shepherd) Alchin was born in the Colony of New South Wales (1788-1900)

Jane Shepherd was born on 21 August 1842 in Narellan, Colony of New South Wales. She was the daughter of Henry Shepherd and Jane McNabb.

Jane married Thomas Alchin on 13 May 1862 in Yass, Colony of New South Wales. They had twelve children:

Research Notes

Birth: Differing birth dates exist for Jane either in 1842 or 1848. If Jane was born in 1848, she would have been about 14 when she married and 15 when she had her first child. This could indicate that 1848 is incorrect, but it is not impossible. Further research identified copy of death certificate and Coroner's inquest (register entry), both give age at death as 55, which results in birth year about 1842. Therefore, suggest correct birth registration is for Jane Shepherd, registration number 1340/1842 V18421340 26A, in Camden. Miller-105942 02:20, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
