Biography

Helen was the daughter of Sir James Schaw, of Sauchie.[1][2][3][4]

She married firstly, Andrew Stewart, first Lord Avondale.[4]

She married secondly, Archibald Halyburton, Master of Halyburton.[3][4][5][6][7]

She married thirdly (his second wife), Sir Patrick Hume, of Polwarth bef. 24 Mar 1490.[3][4][5][6][8] A charter confirmed 12 February 1505/6 gives her as relict of Sir Patrick Hume of Polwarth, Knt.[9]

She married fourthly, Sir Peter/Patrick Houston, of that ilk[1][2][3][4]

She married fifthly, Robert Hamilton in 1516.[3][6][10]

Where do they get the German spelling of SHAW from??!!

The PM created the profile with that spelling but RMS (fn. 5), Crawfurd (fn. 2), Anderson (fn. 4), and Hamilton (fn 8) all use that spelling. That's four out of eight sources. RMS is the only primary source in that group so /SCHAW/ seems to be in the lead but that does not, by itself, mean that it is correct.
