Biography
Anna Reitz was born in May 1897. Her birth record has not yet been found, so it is not yet known if she was born in Syracuse, Onondaga, New York or in Oswego, Oswego, New York. She was the daughter of John Rizzo and Rose, whose last name is not yet known.
Anna's father immigrated to the United States from Italy in the late 1880s. The family's surname in Italy was "Rizzo", but changed to "Reitz" when the Rizzo family settled in the United States.
During the early years of their marriage, Anna's parents resided in Syracuse, Onondaga, New York. They moved to the city of Oswego, Oswego, New York around the turn of the century, where Anna's mother passed away in 1899.
Anna and her siblings were placed in St. Francis Home (a Catholic orphanage in Oswego) until her father was able to get things straightened around. It is unknown if Anna passed away in care at St. Francis Home or in the care of her father.
Anna passed away on 12 May 1904 in Oswego, Oswego, New York.[1] She was identified as "Annie Ritz" in the New York State Death Index.

- 1900 Oswego, Oswego, New York Anna (age 3) was an inmate at Saint Francis Home. Her older siblings, Anna, James, Martin and Phillip also lived in the orphanage with her. Their father, John, has not yet been located this census year.[2]
