Ernest Edmund Read was born on 23 Apr 1883 in Upper Rockport, Sackville, Westmorland, New Brunswick, Canada, son of Rufus Hemry (Read) Reade (1850 - 1918) and Lilliah J. (Babcock) Read (~1857 - 1938).[1]
His siblings were:
- Mary Jane (Read) Cole (1880 - 1906)
- Lillian Oressa (Read) Tingley (1893 - 1918)
Ernest married Florence Beatrice Babcock (born in Johnson Mills, Westmorland on 27 Dec 1888; died in Sackville on 7 Dec 1969), daughter of Silas Babcock and Eunice Tower. Their children were:
- Jenne B Read (1916 - 1918)
- Mabel Oressa (Read) Tower (1919 - 2006)
- Rupert Ernest Read (1922 - 2007)
- Lillian Beatrice Read (1925 - 2009).
