Biography
Robert was born in 1932. He was the son of John Pilch and Alvina Baade. He passed away in 1951. [1]
Military Service
Service #: 16363914 Rank: Private First Class Branch: U.S. Army War: Korean War Awards: Private First Class Pilch was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal. Private First Class Pilch was a member of the 21st Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on October 16, 1951.
A Remembrance by his Niece
"The Honor Guard brought the casket to my grandparents house. Uncle Bobbie's dog Brownie met them on the corner. Brownie whined and followed after the Honor Guard. After the casket was in the house, Brownie was allowed in and sat by the casket. This was the first time Brownie had been in the house. The next day they took the casket away and Brownie tried to follow.
Several letters were sent to my Grandparents from men who has served with Uncle Bobby. They had seen him die."
