Research Notes
Disambiguation of some of the many John Peacocks
There are at least three John Peacocks from Wayne County, North Carolina, all born about 1740–1745-ish and all died 1826–1829.
This profile is "Lame John". He was the son of John Peacock (d. 1781) and Patience Raiford; he married Mary Thompson and had an 1828 will, proven February 1829. Both his will and the 1820 census call him "John Peacock, Lame." He apparently had been injured in the Revolutionary War.
John Peacock that married Nancy Paxton and died in Jasper County, Georgia. [His profile on WikiTree calls him "John Peacock Senior" but the records do not.]
"John Peacock Senior," married Priscilla Worrell and Elizabeth Bishop. He had a will proven September 1829. [No WikiTree profile]
One of these last two was the son of Samuel Peacock and wife Tilsey.
There are also younger John Peacocks from both Wayne and Johnston Counties (including sons of these men, their brothers or cousins). They include John Peacock, Jr., a son of Lame John (not a son of John Sr. as might be expected), and a John Peacock (b. 1766) that married Unity Pearce—a step-daughter to Lame John's daughter Treacy. Some of these younger John Peacocks also need straigtening out.
