Biography

Theophilus Peacock was born in 1795 in Wayne, North Carolina,[1] a son of John Peacock (about 1740–1829) and Mary Thompson (1760–1836).[2]

He married Charlotte Thompson and five children are known:

  • William Peacock (1817– )
  • Nancy Ann Peacock (1819–1870)
  • Stephen Peacock (1825– )
  • James Peacock (1834– )
  • Mary Peacock (1835– )

His wife Charlotte (or Lotty) is mentioned in his estate settlement in 1856.[3] However, given the age gaps of the children, she may be a second wife and not the mother of all the children. Or there may be other children who are unidentified and may not have survived to adulthood.

Theophilus died in 1855 in Wayne County, aged 60.[3]
