OBITUARY
DEATH OF MRS. M. B. SHAW.
Death has removed another old Bunbury resident in the person of Mrs. Margaret Bridget Shaw, who passed away at her residence, Clifton Street, on Wednesday morning, at the advanced age of 87.
A native of Armagh, Ireland, the deceased immigrated to Australia in the early sixties. The ship in which she travelled, the Southern Empire, was three months on the voyage and was wrecked on the return trip. The deceased was married in Victoria to the late Mr. John Shaw, and they came to Western Australia in 1897, landing in Bunbury the day of the Diamond Jubilee celebration.
The late Mrs. Shaw had a family of eight sons, and the fact that five of them served in the Boer war, and four in the late war, naturally added to her anxiety with her advancing years. Of a cheery disposition, it was not until within the last year that she became bed ridden, but the last illness was of some three months duration. Mrs. Shaw is survived by an elder brother now in Victoria, who has passed his nintieth year, and a younger sister, who is in Ireland.
The funeral took place at the old Cemetery on Thursday afternoon, Father J. Creagh performing the last rites. The chief mourners were Messrs. Alex, T. A., D. C., C and D. J. Shaw (sons) ; Mesdames D.
