Before John died in 1878, Madelia and John had five children: Frank Cloud Grubbs (1872-1957) Elsie Elma Grubbs (1873-1917) Zea Genevieve Grubbs (1875-1876) Eugenia Ethelwyn Grubbs (1877-1957) LeRoy Mathias Grubbs (1878-1879)
Madelia married Michael St. Germain (1844-1914) on 8 January 1882 in Corvallis, Benton County, Oregon. Madelia and Michael had three children: Elizabeth Ney St. Germain (1883- ) Inez St. Germain (1884-1963) Arthur Louis St. Germain (1889-1971)
About 1902, Madelia and Michael St. Germain moved to Douglas County, Washington, along with children Frank and Eugenia Grubbs, and Elizabeth, Inez and Arthur St. Germain.
