Biography

Silas Montgomery was a Kentuckian.

When Silas Montgomery was born on March 27, 1869, in Meadows, Kentucky, his father, Samuel, was 48 and his mother, Catherine, was 23. He married Jane P FLETHER Montgomery Patton and they had six children together. He also had three sons and four daughters from another relationship. He died on May 20, 1961, in Portsmouth, Ohio, at the age of 92, and was buried in Magoffin, Kentucky.

From FAG: Silas was born in Kentucky the son of Samuel M. Montgomery and Catherine Sizemore and the grandson of John and Sarah (Flannery) Montgomery Jr. and George "Goldenhawk" and Sally (Anderson) Sizemore. On August 4, 1888 in Magoffin County Kentucky he married Jane Fletcher the daughter of Meridith Fletcher and Margaret Patrick. Their children are; Dayrus Montgomery, Bun Montgomery, Adus Montgomery, Amos Montgomery, Bert Montgomery, Adgie (Montgomery) Long, Alta (Montgomery) Fraley and Mary (Montgomery) Lennon. Silas married second to Cora Wireman the daughter of George "Dry Gourd" Wireman and Rose Ann Wireman. Their children are; Burtle (Montgomery) Wireman, Becky (Montgomery) Cornwell Arnett, George Montgomery and Luther Montgomery.
