Thomas Montgomery was born on 15 May 1845 in Lisnaskea, Aghalurcher, County Fermanagh, Ireland, son of Thomas Montgomery and Margaret (Rutherford) Montgomery.

Thomas (35) married Alice Ann Vincent (17) on 9 Mar 1881 in Arapohue, Kaipara, Northland, New Zealand. Their children were:

  1. William Montgomery
  2. Robert Montgomery
  3. Fanny (Montgomery) Carter
  4. Margaret (Montgomery) Hilliam.

Thomas died on 27 Jan 1921 in Arapohue aged 75. He is buried in Arapohue Cemetery, Arapohue.
