Robert Mayoh died young.

Robert Mayoh was born in 1856 at Young, in the Colony of New South Wales. He was the son of Thomas Mayoh and Ann Windross.^[1]

Robert Mayoh passed away in 1871, at Young, aged 14 years, when his horse fell on him.^[2]

Coroner's Inquest.

An inquest was held on Saturday morning last, at the dwelling of Thomas Mayoh, on view of the body of Robert Mayoh. Thomas Mayoh deposed : I am a grazier, and reside at Moppity; : the deceased (Robert Mayoh) is my son; I last saw him alive on Thursday ; he went out on that day to look after cattle; I did not see him again until yesterday, when he was brought home dead ; there was no one out witn him to my knowledge; he was a native of the colony—fourteen years of age-, I never knew him to drink any spirits. David Mayoh deposed: I am a farmer, and reside at Irish Jack's Creek; I am brother of deceased ; I last saw him alive on Wednosday morning; about two o'clock yesterday afternoon I found him lying dead under bis horse; it was about a mile from here, and about a hundred yards from the side of the road ; he was lying on his face and hands, and his right 'foot Was in the stirrup; the mare was lying across his back dead ; I assisted to remove him to where he now lies; he went away on Thursday eveniug, about sundown, to look for cows; no other person went with him. Dr. Charles Temple deposed : I am Government Medical Officer for this district; I have examined deceased, and find several marks of bruises on the body ; the forehead, face, and neck presented a black and swollen, appearance; there are other dark streaks about the body, and a quantity, of mucous in' the membrane of the nose ; he presents the appearance of one who had died from suffocation; the description given by the last witness, in reference to the position in which he found deceased, would account for the appearance described. The jury returned a verdict, that deceased came to his death by suffocation, caused by his horse falling on him.
