Greetings!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hello Joy,

How are you doing? Hope you're enjoying our site.

Our vision is to build a collaborative tree. Please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile. Having dates and locations attached to every person assists in our mission as well.

Feel free to check out How To Use WikiTree. It's a great step-by-step guide.

Also Help Index with links to topics you may have questions on. Don't forget our G2G Forum where many of our generous members help each other out.

And of course, I'm here to help in any way I’m able. Just ask!

Thank you for the message, Joy. Getting acquainted with all the features can be confusing at first, but don't hesitate to explore the G2G forum for answers.

The vital info is not visible on profiles of living persons and there are privacy levels you can set to control how much you wish to share. Close to the top right of your profile is a colored padlock, and clicking on it opens a page where you can select a privacy level. Yours is set at semi private, which is the most common and allows enough info to be seen that other researches can determine if you are a relative or not. You can select to be more private though if you wish. Also note the line of tabs next down the page - at each end is an option to view what the public sees or your view.

Thank you for joining, Patt

Hi Joy, Thank you for volunteering to help grow our World Wide Family Tree. You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree.

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top left, or head over to the Help section or head over to the G2G forum and take a minute to introduce yourself in the Tree House, you might also want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you with specific problems if you have any.

Good luck growing your branches, Patt

Hi

My name is Joy and I live in Australia. I began researching in the late 1970's mainly in England, but lately concentrating on South Africa. I agree with Wiki's Mission and look forward to the opportunity of not only helping others if indeed, but also receiving help.
