Arthur Kenlis Maxwell, 11th Baron Farnham (2 October 1879 – 5 February 1957) was an Irish Representative peer and a Nova Scotia baronet.

Arthur Kenlis Maxwell, 11th Baron Farnham was born on 2 October 1879. He was the son of Somerset Maxwell, 10th Baron Farnham and Lady Florence Jane Taylour. On his father's death, he succeeded as 11th Baron Farnham and (13th) or 14th Baronet of Calderwood on the 22 November 1900 and inherited the Farnham estate.

He was educated at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst and received his first commission during the Boer War as Lieutenant of the 10th Hussars. On the 18 December 1908, he was elected an Irish Representative peer.

He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Cavan.

He died on 5 February 1957 at age 77.

Military Career

During World War I, he was Lieutenant Colonel of the North Irish Horse. He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the 10th Hussars. He fought in the Boer War between 1901 and 1902. He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches. He was decorated with the award of the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1918. He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Northern Irish Horse Yeomanry. He gained the rank of Acting Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Service Battalion, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.

Marriage and Family

He had married Aileen Selina Coote, daughter of Charles Purdon Coote and Lydia Lucy Wingfield-Digby, on 8 October 1903. His son, Somerset, had died of wounds in 1942 at El Alamein, and so on his own death in 1957, his titles and estate passed to his grandson, Barry. His granddaughter Sheelin married the 3rd Baron Knollys.

He married Aileen Selina Coote, daughter of Charles Purdon Coote and Harriette Louisa Maxwell, on 8 October 1903. They had the following children:
