Marie Elodie was the daughter of Celestin Matte and Josephine Bellard. She was born on 15 June 1847 and baptized in Grand Coteau, Louisiana. Her headstone incorrectly lists her birthdate as 29 Feb 1840; census records and the date of her marriage all support the 1847 date.

She married Dupre Lejeune, the widower of Hermosa Matte, on 25 Nov 1867 in Grand Coteau, Louisiana.
[2][3]
She died on 18 May 1924 in Church Point, Louisiana
[4]
and was buried in the Old Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church Cemetery in Church Point. Her headstone incorrectly lists her death date as 29 May 1924.

Hi Mervin, you've set Matte-272 as a Rejected Match. I'd like to suggest that this was a mistake and that these are indeed the same person. Please take another look at the other profile; I have done some cleanup there to make things easier to read. It seems that the only source for this 1840 birthdate is her tombstone, which are often wrong. Note that the census records on the other profile consistently show her birthyear much later. The tombstone has the correct death year. It matches the Death Record on the other profile (which has her parents as Celestine Matt and Josephine Bellard). I don't see any source for her parents being Onesime Matte and Caroline Chiasson other than what somebody wrote on Find-a-Grave. The profile for Onesime Matte has a census record for 1850 and there is no Elodie listed there. Note that the 1880 census record on Matte-272 also has the three children that you have on this profile. If you agree, then we'll need to process Merges for both Elodie and her husband, Dupre. Thanks!
Matte-908 and Matte-272 appear to represent the same person because: dates are quite different, but both profiles have the same marriage and the same Find a Grave Memorial cited. Find a Grave also indicates a different set of parents. I think that some primary sources are needed at this point.
Matte-908 and Matte-272 do not represent the same person because: They do not represent the same person. Different birth dates, different death dates, different spouses, different children. The find a grave information is wrong on Matte-272. Please correct or I can do it. Thanks
Matte-908 and Matte-272 appear to represent the same person because: Profiles have a number of differences, but see explanation in comment section of Matte-908. Celestin Matte and Josephine Bellard are the parents. Thanks!
