Grissom Lee served for Kentucky in the War of 1812 Service started: Unit(s): Service ended:
Born to Richard Lee, 1753 - 1820 and Elizabeth H. Scott Lee, born 1761 - 1838. Grissom was born after his sister Sarah was born in Virginia, [citation needed] and BEFORE his sister Dolly was born in Paint Lick, Kentucky. Grissom "in East Tennessee" (this is on the 1860 census) . East Tennessee border is 92 miles (Winfield) from Paint Lick, Kentucky. Maybe they were visiting family or friends and she had him there, premature??? Or another reason, they were twins and he did not arrive for 1 month later, it has happened..........

20 children-she gave birth to unless we can prove this list is adding names?
such as look at the Mary Ann Polly a sister and a wife to Grissom ...
THIS IS TRUE.. these are the names from the DEED of PARTITION.
The deed names all but 4 of the children listed except for the ones I have #..
All the others are listed to have received a portion of Richard Lee's property :known to be on "the east branch of the North fork of Licking Creek."
William is not listed on the DEED of Partition but is Adm. with his mother Elizabeth.
Noah is not listed on the DEED of Partition "Part one" but is named in "Part two"
So many of the ancestors died in "Paint Lick" A Commissioners survey said, "On the north fork of LICKING CREEK," another part of the survey states, "in Madison County, ....on the Brushy Fork of Silver Creek, containing 352 acres." After reading more of the records I think the name of the plantation was "Paint Lick" after the creek that ran through their property.

NOTE: The unusual spelling of Grissom, Grisham have been misspelled on all census records, even a court document. The "Carissom" is found on the family TREE on ancestry/rootsweb of a GREER/LEE historian, not sure where she found it.
Because Grisham is not his middle name but how people MISSPELL his first name GRISSOM we are removing it. Carissom Gresham
As for the other middle name: CARISSOM, it too appears to me that it is also misspelled or not read correctly, the "Ca" is probably "G" so that is his first name. We will leave them here until someone finds a source...
Warning: Check the data. A birth date should not be within eight months of a sibling's birth date unless they are twins born within a day of each other.
ANSWER: they are both headstones, so the only answer is one of them has the wrong info on the headstone, and they are the only sources.Taylor-25258 10:53, 7 April 2017 (EDT)
SO I will change the DATE OF BIRTH "28 Sep 1783" to the one mentioned below.......and make it one year exactly later.........
DNA Triangulation
Paternal and maternal relationships are confirmed by a triangulated group on MyHeritageDNA consisting of Joanne Amick who descends from Richard Washington Lee, G.B. who descends from Grissom Lee, and J.Z. who descends from Lucinda Lee. They share a 20cM segment on chromosome 16. The most recent common ancestor shared by all three descendants are Richard Lee and Elizabeth Scott.
Conflict
The DOB is figured from the INSCRIPTION on his headstone
"77 Yrs. & 16 Dys." Lee Cemetery, Beaman, Missouri
Which gives him a DOB as: September 27, 1783
According to Find A Grave used as a source, and his tombstone, he was born in the year 1783. There is no cited source for the date of 28 Sep 1787 besides the unsourced personal web page. The earlier date also fits better with the census records.
The headstones for Dorothy and her brother Grissom, give ages which when used to calculate their birth dates, show them to be born one month apart.

actually both 1850/1860 censuses give Tennessee. And I know I have seen the "reason" for him being born in Tennessee instead of Licking Creek... yes I have seen but can't put my finger on it.
