Biography

Irvine Lee, son of Richard Lee and Elizabeth Scott, was born about 1808 in Paint Lick, Garrard County, Kentucky, United States. He died after the 1870 census was taken in Howard County, Missouri, United States. His burial place is currently unknown but he may be buried in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Henry County, Missouri. (Note: There are 10 members of Irvine's family, including his brother David that lived with Irvine and his family, buried in the Bethlehem Cemetery.)

On 27 July 1825 in Madison County, Kentucky, United States[1], Irvine married Sarah Elizabeth Herndon (1805-1843), the daughter of John Herndon (1770-1839) and Elizabeth Wood (1775-1841). They had two known children: Zarelda, and William D.

On 24 July 1840 in Howard County, Missouri, United States[2], Irvine married Elizabeth Williams (1801-?). They had one known child: Anna E.

On 10 May 1863 in Howard County, Missouri, United States[3], Irvine married Nancy Green (1816-1872), the daughter of John N. Green (1789-1869) and Sarah H. Scott (1789-?). There are no known children from this marriage.

  • 1820[5] - Silver Creek, Madison, Illinois. Assumed to be in the household of Elizabeth Lee. The household consisted of 7 Total Persons as follows: Free White Persons - Males - 16 thru 18 (1), Free White Persons - Males - 16 thru 25 (2), Free White Persons - Males - 26 thru 44 (1), Free White Persons - Females - Under 10 (1), Free White Persons - Females - 16 thru 25 (1), Free White Pesons - Females - 26 thru 44 (1), Free White Persons - Females - 45 and over (1).

  • 1840[6] - Springfield, Rives, Missouri. (now Henry County, Missouri). Listed as head of household. His household consisted of 6 Total Persons as follows: Free White Persons - Males - 10 thru 14 (2), Free White Persons - Males - 30 thru 39 (1), Free White Persons - Females - 10 thru 14 (1), Free white Persons - Females - 30 thru 39 (1), Slaves - Females - 24 thru 35 (1).
  • 1850[7] - Howard County, Missouri. As head of household his age is given as 42. Other members of the household were: Elizabeth Lee (49), Ann E Lee (6) and Zarilda Lee (22).
    • 1850 Slave Schedule indicates he was the owner of an 18 year old female and 0 year old male.[8]
  • 1860[9] - Grand River Township, Henry, Missouri. As head of household his age is given as 55. Other members of the household were: Elizabeth Lee (57), Anna Lee (15) and David Lee (68).
    • 1860 Slave Schedule indicates he was the owner of a 23 year old female, 13 year old male and 5 year old female.[10]
  • 1870[11] - Grand River Township, Henry, Missouri, United States. As head of household his age is given as 65. Other members of the household were: Nancy Lee (54), David Lee (80) and George W. Green (21).
