Biography

Joseph Le Blanc is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana Plaque 8-Left, Le Beaumont. Listed with him are four of his siblings: Jacques, Francois, Magdelaine and Genevieve. [1]

Joseph was born in 1766. He was the son of Jean-Baptiste LeBlanc and Marguerite Célestin.

He married Marie Madeleine Pélagie Gautrot, daughter of Charles Gautrot and Anne Pélagie Trahan in 1788.

Records of the First Settlers of the Louisiana Territory [12]

"No. 15 - JOSEPH LEBLANC, as executor of JOSEPH LANDRY, claims a tract of land, situate [sic] on the river Mississippi, in the county of Iberville and district of Manchack, containing three arpents in front, and forty in depth.
"This tract is part of seven and a half arpents in front, with the ordinary depth of forty, surveyed in favor of JOSEPH LANDRY, in the year 1772, who obtained in the same year a complete grant for the same from DON LOUIS UNZAGA, then Governor: five arpents three toises of which are claimed by the present claimant in virtue of regular deeds of sale. Confirmed."
and
"No. 16 - JOSEPH LEBLANC claims a tract of land, situate [sic] on the river Mississippi, in the county of Iberville and district of Manchack, containing five arpents and three toises front, on the ordinary depth of forty arpents.
