Catherine "Katie" Kroeckel was born in May 1900 in Irondequoit, Monroe, New York to German immigrants John Kroeckel and Mary Messer. She was raised on Moulson Street and St. Joseph Avenue in Irondequoit.

Katie passed away on 29 December 1912 in Irondequoit and is buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester.
