We recently left a message on your profile to check in with the Profile Improvement Project (PIP). If you would like to continue with the Project, please let us know.
We would like to hear from you with any ideas or suggestions. If you do not wish to participate in the Project, please let us know. If we don’t hear from you within 14 days we will remove you from the Project, but we will welcome you back at any time.
The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing a check-in with project members. Please review the following and respond to let us know that you are content with your current team.
The Project operates in a team structure. There are currently three participant PIP Teams -- The Maintenance Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and the Biography Team. There is also the Voyage Team which guides new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team.
You're currently identified as a member of the Biography Team. The Biography Team works on profiles from their watchlist and other profiles that interest them.
If you have not already done so, we invite you to join the email GoogleGroup and text chat Discord channel for our project. (You will need your Wiki ID for both). Neither is required; we also use the Profile-Improvement tag in G2G for Project announcements.
We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project meet its goals. We would like to hear about the successes you’ve had and would also appreciate any feedback you have to help improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or via private message to one of us.
Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s VERY IMPORTANT to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
I added you to the Trusted List for Thomas E. Davis (1948-2010) so you can look into the possibility of a duplicate. Thomas married Sharon Griffin, and as far as I can tell never left New York. His brother Robert married Karen __ and they are also still in New York.
I think that your Thomas Edward Davis is a different person since you note his dates (1945-2012) and likely not in New York. But take a look, you never know!
Hi Debbie, Thank you for adding a source to Abel Lyon. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Lyon-7648 Do you have a source that states the parents you added for him are correct? Currently, none of the sources on his profile or his parents prove parentage. Thanks, Emma
Hi Debbie, when you count profiles for challenges, can you double check which challenge your are choosing on the tracker? You counted 7 for the USBH Connecting Challenge in March and I would like you to get credit for the challenge you are participating in. Thanks! Emma~~USBH
Thank you for contributing to the March 2022 Sourcerers Challenge! As you know, every source added to an unsourced profile improves our One Tree. Thank you for taking time from your own family history to help others.
Hi! The default text/parameters for the Oklahoma Sticker were recently changed (in February). See Template: Oklahoma Sticker for current information. No need to do anything if you're ok with the sticker's new default text "... an Oklahoman."
Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand this Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.
Thanks for having a Big Heart and adopting Orphan Profiles. You will want to read this After Adopting Orphans to understand what to do next. I noticed that you have adopted many unsourced profiles, those should be the first ones that you work on....
Thanks for your help with merges, and particularly for taking on merges that need research such as
The proposed merge of Eva Gouge (Happes-13) and Elizabeth Gouge (Hoppes-11) has been postponed by Debbie Ferguson. The pair is now set as an Unmerged Match and should be completed later.
Unmerged Matches
Sometimes profiles appear to be duplicates but you're not ready to merge them.
This could be because one of the profiles is private and you can't see the full information. Or it could be because there is so much conflicting information you're not sure whether the profiles represent the same person or not.
Setting the two profiles as Unmerged Matches will remind you and others that there is information to be worked out.
You'll want to use the text space and comment board on the profiles to describe any disputed information.
An Unmerged Match is a temporary state. You should work with others to resolve the open questions and either complete the merge or reject it.
David Shannon (Shannon-1364) is a great++++grandfather of my wife and the information in his profile is correct according to the research I have done. Thanks. Wayne Huff-3703
Just wanted to thank you for posting the obituary of Dorothy Mae Crouch, wife of Thomas Cleveland Penrose. My mother was a Penrose, which makes me a 5th cousin 2 times removed from Thomas Cleveland Penrose.

Hi Debbie! Thanks for the attention on the Jones-38771 (Betsy Weatherall) profile today. Just wanted to mention that the "Unmerged match" option is generally selected only when there are a variety of problems with data that doesn't match. Here's a page that might help, if you need it. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Merging My understanding is that the 30-day clock starts over when unmerged match is selected, and a profile manager of one or both profiles doesn't respond before that time.
Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.
The United States Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.
Have questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.
Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles that you manage or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).
I noticed your birth date change on Uncle Arnold Johnson's profile. His cemetery memorial birthdate is wrong, but I'll leave that to you to review and correct on his profile. He was the oldest of his siblings. Check out the added sources.
Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need.
Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up gedcom biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!
Thank you for adding your DNA Test to your profile on WikiTree. Getting Started with DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.
DNA at WikiTree provides a visual way for you to find others who have tested and have the potential of having common ancestors. It normally takes 24 hours from adding a test, or adding a new ancestor, or ancestor’s descendant, for WikiTree to display your name and test results on your ancestors and their descendants’ profiles for potential cousins to compare results with. The process of identifying which branch elements of DNA relate to will better enable you to find matches which relate to the particular branches you are researching.
We need to merge the two profiles, and they must be merged down, to the profile with the lower number. That's the way WikiTree works. So don't add anything to your profile of Anderson until after we've completed the merge, as it's a mess to straighten out afterwards. LOL. Merges are a bit technical and I do them with fear and trepidation. I have messed up a few, and lost a lot of data, so I am going to ask for help to make sure we don't lose anything we've entered.
Cheers,
Deb
