Greetings from the 1776 Project . . .

We're doing our semi-annual check-in to ask whether you have made contributions to the project in the last six months?

Please note that it is a requirement for membership in the 1776 Project that you respond to this check-in. Please post your response as a reply to this message on your page, for convenience of record keeping.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks Betty! I added the 1776 sticker to one of my Revolutionary War ancestors (Kinney-1523).

Hello,

I am checking in on behalf of the 1776 Project to announce the new project membership requirements and to verify that you are still interested in being a member of the project. All project members are being asked to join one of the project teams and also to make at least one project contribution every 6 months. We are also asking all project members to join the project's Google Group for project communications.

If you are interested in remaining with the Project, please reply to this comment or send me a message, request to join the Google Group, and let us know what team you would like to participate on.

We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions, please ask. We would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hi, Dennis

The Ambassadors project has been reorganizing and is looking for those who have a membership at a genealogical society, to help in spreading the word about WikiTree.

We're working on ways to improve how WikiTree connects and interacts with genealogical and local history societies. This is the kind of thing we want to do:

  • Liaise with societies: set up your local society with a free-space page and some WikiTree materials as part of a package.
  • Use social media to promote what societies are offering on WikiTree.
  • Encourage bloggers to blog about societies and the resources available to them on WikiTree.

Are you interested in participating in some way? Do you have some ideas to share?

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz, Dennis!

Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential.

The Pennsylvania Project and/or Connecticut Project seem to fit your ancestors. Leader for both is Ellen Smith. Click the link to read how to join.

Or use the Pre-1700 Projects list, located at the top of your page, 4th topic on right, under <Find> and <Projects>.

For questions, just ask on my page.

Mary ~ Pre-1700 Greeter

PS If "Page Not Found" error occurs in your email, check your page for this message.

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. You will want to read this After Adopting Orphans to understand the special attention these profiles need.

Thanks for joining us! I’m Cindy, a WikiTree Mentor. Hope you're enjoying our site.

I just wanted to check in and see how things are going. Do you have any questions I can answer?

We want to help! Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page or send me a private message.

Cindy ~ WikiTree Mentor

PS To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Hi Dennis

You have been a member about a week. How is it going so far. Was the first page of the How-Tos helpful or did it leave you with questions?

When you click the green tags on your profile page, you can see if others follow that tag. Add locations, Country, County or town the more tags you add the more links to community & research options. You can find more information here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tags.

Your tags will not connect to others your comments should be your tags

England

Germany

Ireland

3 separate tags

If links don't work in emails, check the comments on your profile, links will work from there.

Any questions please ask in the comment of my page or send a private message.

Janet ~ WikiGreeter

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for volunteering! You are now a full member of the WikiTree community, and can start adding your family. Let me know if you have any questions.

Since WikiTree is different from other genealogy sites, we have a guided tour for new members at New Member How-To. Feel free to work through the How-Tos at your own pace.

Once you add profiles to WikiTree they become searchable and in my experience persons interested in these profiles will contact you and may provide further information to expand your family tree.

Great to have you on board, enjoy, and good luck growing your branches.

Hi Dennis,

I was looking at your tags, and I'd like to suggest that you change the tags “SURNAME” and “LOCATION”, so that you have at least one tag for each surname or location you are interested to research. For example, one tag for Kinney, another tag for Kinne etc. By doing that, you can then click on it and any other surname tags you add and you'll be taken to a page where you'll see other genealogists who are also following those surnames and locations.

Furthermore, any activity associated with those surname tags will be reported in your daily activity list.

You can find more information about tags here: WikiTree Tags

In the meantime I will accept your request to become a full WikiTree member.

Kind regards, Ludwig WikiTree Greeter volunteer
