Hakon Håkonsson (Norwegian: Håkon Håkonsson Unge, Old Norse: Hákon Hákonarson hinn ungi), Norwegian king's son, the eldest son of King Haakon Håkonsson and Margareta Skulesdatter, and held the title of king, subordinate to his father, from 1 April 1240 to his death. He was referred to as Haakon the Young to distinguish him from his father, who was sometimes correspondingly called Haakon the Old. He received his royal name in 1240, when the king would ensure a line of succession in case he himself would be killed in battle with Duke Skule . The new king died, however, before his father.
The only child of Håkon and princess Rikitsa was prince Sverre Magnus, who lived with his grandfather. He died the winter 1260/61.
Håkon died from illness at Munkeliv kloster in Tønsberg 5 May 1257, and was buried in Hallvardskirken in Oslo.
