They started in Va. and after the war of 1812 they relocated to Judio Creek in Cumberland Co. Ky with a land grant John received possibly for his service for the state of VA in the War of 1812. 2 of his sons relocated, too. They settled on Judio Cr and added land to the grant and started raising tobacco. John died there unexpectedly in 1820/21 and is buried in the Hunter Cem there on the farm. Sarah and her daughter Charity ran the farm after his death. His sons that were left at home were placed with 'professional' men. Shores with a saddle maker, William and Andrew Jackson with doctors.

"The family of John Hunter heired 200 A upon his death in 1821. This land was Purchased in 1818. It was in Cumberland Co., Ky. Court divided the land into 14 parcels and laid out the widows dower. The thirteen that I located deeds for Their share were: Shores P. Hunter, Sutton L. Hunter, «b»Mary, wife of David Robertson«/b», Joseph, Samuel, Charity, John, David of Monroe Co., Ky., Andrew J.,Fanny, Jane, wife of Jesse Martin, and Elizabeth, wife of William Spearman. Shores P. Was living in Morgan Co., Missouri. Samuel married Mary Biggerstaff. David's wife was Sarah."

A list of the property of John Hunter, deceased, appraised by Gilbert Rowland, W. K. Partrick, & Barber Hill on the 23rd day of Jany 1822. Agreeable to an order of the Cumberland Co. Court

John Hunter's children who received land at his death along with Sarah's dower interest: Shores Price, Sutton L., Mary (wife of David Robertson), Joseph, Samuel, Charity (never married but raised Emily), John Jr, David of Monroe Co., Andrew J., Fanny (married Prowell/Powell), Jean (married Jesse Martin), Elizabeth (married William Spearman), and William shown living next door to Charity and Sarah. NOT MENTIONED: Harriet possibly deceased (married Elam Boles), and Martha deceased,(married Lewis Stone)
